Born in Lyon, France in 1973, Xavier Clarisse studied sculpture, mechanical theory and technical drawing before specialising in sculpture and product design at the École nationale des beaux-arts of Saint-Étienne.
He has worked as a freelance designer in Berlin and London, collaborating with other artists across design, sculpture and video. Today he designs and hand makes his own range from Durban, South Africa: pieces that are original and timeless, forward looking and drawn from past traditions, made to survive fashion and time.
